Description
Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery aims at correcting signs of aging present on the eyelids and replace the “tired” look of the eye with a more rested and relaxed appearance.
Plastic Surgeon in Switzerland, Dr. ELIAS, a specialist in blepharoplasty in Geneva, explains the indications for blepharoplasty, the procedure and the expected results.
Eyelid surgery is performed for :
➢ Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or hides the natural contour of the upper eyelid ;
➢ Excess skin that hangs down from the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision ;
➢ Excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the upper eyelid.
Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is performed on both men and women, starting in their forties. However, blepharoplasty is sometimes performed when disfigurements are constitutional (hereditary factors) and not age-related, such as certain "fat pockets".
Intervention
Blepharoplasty in Geneva or Genolier is performed under local or general anesthesia, as appropriate. The procedure is performed in “ambulatory”, with a same-day discharge after around one hour of surveillance. An incision within the natural crease of the upper eyelid allows access to remove excess skin, muscle and underlying fatty tissue.

Recovery period
There is no real pain but some discomfort with a feeling of tension around the eyes. You need to rest and avoid any exercice the first days. For the first few days, you should rest as much as possible and avoid any violent exertion. Following the operation, swelling of the eyelids and bruising will appear, the extent and duration of which vary greatly from one individual to another. The return to a normal professional and social life is already possible after a few days (6-20 days depending on the type of surgery and the way you heal).
Result of blepharolplasty
It takes 3 to 6 months to assess the results of blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery).
The blepharoplasty specialist, Dr. ELIAS offers a range of aesthetic surgery techniques tailored to your needs. In addition to blepharoplasty, facial rejuvenation by surgery (facelift) or non-invasive techniques (injection of botulinum toxin or hyaluronic acid or tensor threads) can be offered depending on the desired results.
